Renyold Ferguson 1916-2009

Fergy told the story about this picture being taken of him by another Post-Dispatch photographer after Fergy had tried to photograph his own feet hanging over the edge of the Arch while he was standing by pointing his camera down towards his feet. He asked his PD colleague to hold his belt, but he wouldn’t have any part of it. So after trying three times and feeling like he was losing his balance he finally gave up and just laid down and took a picture.

The nicest man I have ever known, Fergy, passed away this Friday morning. He was 93. Thanks Fergy for being a Post-Dispatch colleague, mentor and most of all a friend. May God rest your soul.
